- Yes, there is a difference. In Swedish "mormor" never means "father's mother", and "farmor" never means "mother's mother". There is no Swedish word that can mean both. "85" 25 augusti 2009 kl. 21.16 (CEST)

- If it's a translation you would write "farmor/mormor", but if you refer to a person you almost always know wheather it is the mother of the mother or of the father... If not, it can be appropriate to ask on which side the person is mother... ~ Dodde 26 augusti 2009 kl. 14.35 (CEST)
