Definitionen verkar vilja täcka alltför mycket i en enkel formulering. Den blir för omfattande för vissa definitioner av information (som kan kräva att någon faktiskt mottar ett meddelande, inte bara att det i princip är möjligt) medan andra trots allt inte täcks in (från en:w:Information, men jag är ganska säker på att de finns på svenska också: "Information is any type of pattern that influences the formation or transformation of other patterns. In this sense, there is no need for a conscious mind to perceive, much less appreciate, the pattern."; "Information has a well defined meaning in physics.
